Subvader aka Peter Wiley is a 20 yr-old bass producer/DJ lightwarped in from the distant galaxies of Michigan, USA. Always enflamed with passion, his sci-fi-sex vibes draw heavily from the UK funky movement, crunk and Chicago house as well as from the refined side of dubstep and garage. We are really excited about Bandish Projekt, a very skilled producer from India. He has been making everything from electro to dubstep to drumstep and drum and bass. This rework of the red hot tune “Wonder Man” by Tinie Tempah featuring Elllie Goulding showcases Bandish Projekt’s flare for production, tastefully siphoning the original through layers of warbling synths and slamming drums. Sounds Dope from Mike Genius pulls together a specialized team of sound scientists. This is a follow-up to Paradise Garage, Mike’s first RIS release which was the most notable cut on our first “Think Tank” compilation, being featured on Discobelle and charted by the likes of Chrissy Murderbot and Adam Warped.

The original mix sets the stage for dope-ness with tight drum programming and great vocal work. D.A.M.B. brings us a twisted speaker sundae with a sprinkle of old school house chords on top and pumping sub bass down below. The Flying Skulls come with a dubstep mix in which toy pianos and arpeggiated chords partner up to create the perfect conditions for space travel. Eddie Hoey’s remix pulls you in with its techno tractor beam of build-ups and oscillating effects that seem to go on for all eternity. Flatlanders’ debut remix is a gritty, glitchy electro stormer.

Our good friends at Brap Dem! Recordings just released an EP by Seattle producer Dash Exp. In conjunction with the release, they also sent a bootleg remix which is incredibly well done.

“Dash Exp is a hardworking upcoming producer from the Northwest. Based in Seattle, he has been producing for years and even competes in live laptop battles. Recently his sound caught the ears of Brap Dem! Recordings with a bass soaked, abstract, take on 140 bpm. Figure’s partner on this tune is Will Bailey from Simma Records. Although he is located in Birmingham, UK, Will has become very popular in the U.S. He has been at the Burning Man Festival, the Electric Daisy Carnival, Kosmic and Atlantis Festivals, and gigs in major cities such as Chicago, Buffalo, Seattle, Denver, and San Francisco. Will has a huge effect over his audience. This was noticed by Andi Durrant from Galaxy Radio who said that his tracks can be described as “proper get-out-of-jail tracks”.

“Wiggle Room” is not only the first pounding release on the much anticipated Rock It Science Laboratories label, but also a wild audio entity that has a movement all it’s own.

DJ Fame and Eric Sharp have all thrusters going full throttle, turning out a twister of a track (think monster Slinky on Red Bull). Driving this speaker crunching tune is a bouncy bassline and drums that lead in to a surprising scene where bumble bee synths come swarming in. Three levels of bass gyrations float in and out of the track like a DNA molecule surrounded by intense wind sweeps shooting in at just the right build up times. Light, dark, funky, gritty…. this track has it all, moving from a dirty house groove to a wobbling triplet-style break and back. In short, 3 words: Big Room Sound.

Enlisted for a super hy-phy profile remix are two high honored cadets of the Chicago club sound, Santiago & Bushido. These guys take the original and shove it in their deep space mega filter, put a voodoo spell on it and wave there studio wands then pull it out of their magicians hat and send it to the dry cleaners. What’s the product? A clean cosmic rabbit track ready for universal club domination. Exciting breakdowns and rebuilds get the full filtering, along with S&B’s signature heavy hitting bass lines. This awesome remix is a no brainer – it can be dropped at any time in a set and work well to excite the dance floor. It’s a sure player for the world’s top jocks and bedroom djs alike.

This EP seems to have a theme of power teams and Andrew Phelan and George Cochrane make the list here as well with not 1 but 2 housey wigglers which give the audio connoisseur options within options. The Strip Mix is a straight up no frills charger while the Synth Mix is a journey through retro solos reminiscent of the “Member’s Only jacket” sound of the 80′s. Whatever your taste, either remix is grand.

Lastly but certainly not least, the TrillBass gang rounds out the EP taking us to the dark forest of Dubstep, winding us down creepy turns and shivering bass drops. Nothing short of Epic!

Icon was bumping this mix in the car en route to the Sunset season opener party last weekend and we were raving like lunatics driving up the road. Thusly, it is only natural that we share it with the world.

Our good friend Konnect over at Household Management recently introduced us to DZ, one of electronic music’s rising stars.
