Be dazzled, puzzled and inspired by an evening of “mad science” that will leave your beaker bubbling. Expand your geeky cocktail party repertoire with tidbits from a series of thought-provoking 5-minute Ignite talks by the likes of Tim O’Reilly (co-founder of Maker Faire), Tito Jankowski (of BioCurious, which he describes as “hackerspace for biotech”), science journalist Annalee Newitz, and science comedian Brian Malow. Plus, a series of memorable demonstrations from Physics Circus Ringmaster Zeke Kossover at 7 and 8pm, and a caberet-style musical act performed by one-of-a-kind Physics Chanteuse Lynda Williams at 7:30 and 8:30pm. Then stop by and see an exhibit of original artwork from the one and only Science Tarot deck, and have your cards read. Mad Science NightLife is a Bay Area Science Festival event.

Our friends at Shameless are bringing DJ Fame and Eric Sharp out to their Decibel Festival Afterparty this Friday. This is a down and dirty, raging afterhours event that starts at 1 AM and continues until 9 in the morning. If you’re at Decibel Festival, or anywhere in the Pacific Northwest, don’t sleep on this party!

Usually we don’t post many local events here as you guys live all over the world, but tonight is a bit different. Hearts of Bass has organized an inspiring benefit to raise money for the natural disaster victims in Japan, and Rock It Science is proud to be a part of this effort. Founder Eric Sharp will be dropping a closing set, and many of our favorite Northern California crews and DJs from the Bass Music community are on board.

For the rest of the world who are not local, there will still be an opportunity to help. An EP will be released on Brap Dem! as a part of this project as well, with proceeds being donated. More details on that will be posted in the near future. That said, those of you who are reading this and do live in the Bay Area, please stand up and come out to 1015 Folsom tonight for a great cause. Click the image below for full details!

We have here for you today a remix of J-Wow’s two originals “Spark” the A-side and “Fogo” on the B which came out on October 19th through Enchufada. Canblaster, a French DJ, melded these two songs together producing acid house synths, strict 808 snare thwacks and muscular clenches of dubstep bass resulting in five-minutes of dancing-your-heart-out.

J-Wow, whose given name is Joao, is a DJ/producer who is in a band Buraka Som Sistema and has recently launched a solo career. Buraka Som Sistema’s music is a fusion of Angolan Kuduro music played in Lisbon clubs with 21st century electronics. BSS has collaborated with the likes of MIA and had very successful world tours. This Saturday J-Wow along with DJ Craze and Trackademicks will be working the floor and getting the crowd crazy at Public Works in San Francisco. Come and get in on the action. We at Rock It Science Labs have been fans of SF’s Worthy for a long time, and he played our parties way before he was a global phenomenon. If you’ve been following our blog for awhile you may remember us buzzing about his track “Concumbia” in one of our early posts. His credibility is without question, with releases on the famed Dirtybird label along with remixes all over the world in addition to running his own imprint Anabatic.

We’re bringing Worthy out to our weekly Friday party at Temple SF this week (holler at contact@rislabs.com to get on the guest list if you’re in SF, or tune in to the webcast live at Awdio.com if you’re not), and in celebration he authorized us to post up a free track. This is an exclusive mash-up that was made for Jackmode, Worthy’s European booking agency. His signature sound is stamped all over it and needless to say, we are very excited to share this with you.
