Merging DJ Fame’s polished drum programming and arrangement skills with Eric Sharp’s penchant for high impact sounds, “Rave In The Key of C” is a straight ahead dance floor smash. Offered as the fifth release on Tommie Sunshine’s hotly tipped Brooklyn Fire Records this does not disappoint. The track gets right down to business with huge drums and a chopped up, side-chained vocal sample. Breakdowns, builds, and fat drops into pumping synth bass lines induce hands-in-the-air freakouts without fail. This tune is a must-have for purveyors of banging electronic house music.

The Explorer EP is aptly named, as Eric employs a variety of sound scapes and production techniques in this offering. The EP is quickly making an impact, having been featured on Beatport and licensed by Hitachi’s G-Connect brand. “Hope Springs Eternal” is a tropical house groove that is featured on Discobelle, and includes an edit from house legend Roy Davis Jr. “Let It Go” is an electro banger with pounding drums, vicious stabs, a wobbling bass line and a floor-crushing vocal that appeared in Mustard Pimp’s latest mix. White Girl Lust adds an acid house take on the tune. “The End Of Mankind” brings influences from Grime, Juke, and Drumstep together with monstrous sounds and madcap vocal work by Louisahhh!!! and Sharp himself in a tongue in cheek apocalyptic scene.

Expand your geeky cocktail party repertoire with tidbits from a series of thought-provoking 5-minute Ignite talks by the likes of Tim O’Reilly (co-founder of Maker Faire), Tito Jankowski (of BioCurious, which he describes as “hackerspace for biotech”), science journalist Annalee Newitz, and science comedian Brian Malow. Plus, a series of memorable demonstrations from Physics Circus Ringmaster Zeke Kossover at 7 and 8pm, and a caberet-style musical act performed by one-of-a-kind Physics Chanteuse Lynda Williams at 7:30 and 8:30pm.
